Over the past couple of years, I’ve become pretty obsessed with skincare. I used to use the 3 step Clinique system, and while it did the job, my skin never really had that glow I was after.

Since then, I’ve experimented with quite a few products, and I’ve finally landed on a routine that’s affordable, effective, and keeps my skin feeling healthy and hydrated. These are the products I’ve genuinely loved and used consistently:

Morning Routine:

  • CeraVe Hydrating Cleanser – gentle but gets the job done see it on Amazon
  • The Ordinary Hyaluronic Acid 2% – great for hydration see it on Amazon
  • The Ordinary Niacinamide 10% or Glycolic Acid – I switch between them depending on how my skin feels but my go to is usually Niacinamide see it on Amazon
  • CeraVe AM Facial Moisturising Lotion – lightweight and includes SPF see it on Amazon

Evening Routine:

  • CeraVe Hydrating Cleanser – see it on Amazon
  • Clinique Clarifying Toner – see it on Amazon
  • The Ordinary Hyaluronic Acid 2% – see it on Amazon
  • Retinol – I started with Medik8, which is a great beginner option (Note: I now use tretinoin, which is prescription only. Nothing has worked like it, but if your starting out Medik8 is a solid place to begin) see it on Amazon
  • Moisturiser – I’m currently figuring out what I love for this step. Right now, I’d recommend the CeraVe PM Moisturising Lotion as a solid, affordable option, though I’ve also loved the Elemis Pro-Collagen Marine Cream (pricey but beautiful) see it on Amazon
  • Clinique Moisture Surge Overnight Mask – I use this every other night see it on Amazon

I’ll be honest tretinoin has been the game changer for me, but for those who can’t access it, using a good quality retinol and being consistent can still get you the results. The key with any routine is patience and keeping it simple.

This routine isn’t set in stone, it’s just what’s working really well for me at the moment. I’m always open to trying new products and switching things up based on how my skin feels.

I do have a few high end favourites, like the Elemis range. I’m not using their products currently (they’re definitely on the luxury end), but I really rate their formulas. That said, you don’t need to spend loads to get great results, these budget-friendly picks have honestly been game-changers for me.

Have any products I should try?
